No. Gii runs on top of your existing Claude Code subscription and login. There's no separate API key to manage or pay for.

Yes. Gii is a native Swift app built for macOS. There's no web version and no Electron wrapper. It's a real desktop app with real window management.

Gii runs Claude Code locally on your machine, the same CLI you'd run in a terminal. Nothing about your code or your sessions leaves your machine.

It's off by default. Turn it on and point it at a text-to-speech server you run yourself, and Gii speaks each session's result aloud: either a short summary or the full response, your choice. No audio goes through a third-party API.

Terminal tabs don't show you which session needs input, don't restore themselves after a restart, and don't let you search across every transcript at once. Gii's tile grid, awaiting-input badges, and command palette exist to answer one question fast: what needs me right now.

Your window layout, project tabs, and tile grid are persisted to disk and restore reliably. Gii also tries to resume each individual Claude conversation; when that isn't possible, it skips the resume rather than guessing, and the rest of your layout still comes back.
